An unforgettable festive celebration at Somerset House: a night of art, ice skating, and gourmet dining
Our Swiss chalet inspired private dining rooms at our winter pop-up The Chalet at Somerset House offers the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable festive celebration this season.
Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of hosting an exclusive event in collaboration with The National Gallery and Somerset House, where we welcomed 30 guests for an evening filled with art, adventure, and exceptional cuisine.
The night kicked off with a private, guided tour of The National Gallery, followed by a thrilling ice skating session at Somerset House’s iconic rink. After gliding across the ice, guests were invited to step into the stylish Skate Lounge, sponsored by Whispering Angel, where drinks and conversation flowed freely, creating the perfect prelude to the next phase of the evening.
From there, it was on to the ‘Alps’, well almost, it was actually to The Chalet, our pop-up restaurant in the West Wing of Somerset House and to one of our alpine-inspired private dining rooms, transformed into a cosy yet elegant winter wonderland. Here, guests were treated to a delectable five-course tasting menu, specially curated and prepared by the team at Jimmy Garcia Catering.

Pickled and roast squash, pumpkin puree, pumpkin seed tuile, borage and alyssum flowers, wood sorrel, confit egg yolk

‘Champagne monkfish’
Citrus cured Cornish monkfish, oxidised Rathfinny and cultured cream split dill dressing, bergamot, sea herbs, chervil

‘Confit guinea fowl’
Guinea fowl, King peter ham mousseline, golden girolle millefeuille tartelette, chive emulsion, truffle butter potato terrine, mushroom tuile
Course 4
‘Kentish apples’
Vanilla mousse, granny smith apple glaze, apple compote, sweet pastry, silver leaf
