Celebrating Design Excellence: Dezeen Awards 2024 with Bentley at Hackney Church
Dezeen is widely regarded as the most popular and influential architecture and design magazine in the world. Renowned for spotlighting excellence in design, the Dezeen Awards have become the ultimate accolade for architects and designers globally. This year’s event, held in partnership with Bentley, embodied Dezeen’s mission to celebrate groundbreaking design while championing sustainability. Bentley, known for its seamless blend of luxury and innovation was a fitting collaboration with the prestigious Dezeen Awards.
The ceremony took place at Hackney Church, a stunning 18th-century parish church transformed into a state of the art events venue after a multi-million-pound restoration. Originally built in 1792, the church provided a dramatic and traditional setting, perfectly contrasted with the modern celebration of design innovation. The event welcomed 600 distinguished guests, including global fashion designers, industry leaders, and creatives from around the world.
Guests enjoyed a curated canapé-only menu featuring creations from our 10 Mile Menu, our menu highlighting local ingredients sourced within 10 miles of the venue. This approach not only reflected the evening's sustainability focus but also proved ideal for building connections in a vibrant networking atmosphere.
MENU
About the 10 mile menu:
We are especially proud of our concept of localised menus. Here we aim to source the majority of menu items within a specified range of the event venue (often as little as within a 10 mile radius), no matter the location both in London and further afield. We’re dedicated to working with the best local, artisan producers to not only contribute to the local economy but also minimise our environmental footprint.
La Latteria Acton (10 miles)
La Latteria - started by Simona di Vietri, a native Southern Italian who found herself living in London and, after missing the best mozzarella from home, decided to start making it here in London! They now create the very finest, artisan Italian cheeses with Buffalo milk from Oxford. They are so good they were visited by Stanley Tucci for his Searching for Italy TV show.
London Honey Co Bermondsey (4.9 miles)
Steve Bonbow from The London Honey Company makes the honey we use at Jimmy Garcia Catering. It’s a lively, complex, honey with citrus notes, from the diverse flora of the capital's trees, parks and gardens and comes straight from his beehives on London rooftops and in wild urban corners and is unpasteurised and minimally filtered retaining its natural properties. We use Steves honey and Simona’s ricotta to create our London honey fermented girolle and truffle pizzette, whipped La Latteria ricotta and chives.
“This was a cracking event to be a part of. The beautifully restored venue was perfectly suited to a forward-thinking and sustainably conscious design magazine like Dezeen. Our 10 mile canapés were a must for this event, showcasing ingredients and artisan suppliers from within 10 miles of the venue complemented the evening beautifully”
